Multi-purpose school project Badu

Project Goal:

1. School education: access to primary and secondary education

2. Health care: Use of the facility for education of mothers/families in
the course of awareness campaigns (malaria prevention, infant and child mortality, maternal mortality, etc.), cooperation and collaboration with the BONITA Health Center, Brodi

3. Prevention of adolescent pregnancies

The village of Badi is located in Tain District in the Brong Ahafo Region of Ghana.
With approximately 21,000 inhabitants, the city is the biggest city of the district. The inhabitants of the municipality are mostly farmers.

Target Group:

1,000 boys and girls at the age of 1–16 years

Project Framework:

School building with a nursery school, a primary school, and a Junior High School to accommodate ca. 1,000 pupils.

Current Situation:

At the moment, classes take place outdoors or in a provisional shak. That causes many problems.
During class, the children are distracted and if it rains, they cannot attend class at all, which in turn leads to poor performances in exams.
Another negative effect of the lack of education and the circumstances that come with it is, that especially young girls are being “seduced“ to engage in other activities. There is a dramatic increase of adolescent pregnancies and pregnancies of girls under the age of 14 years.
This project will specifically target this problem and find a solution.
