Primary School for Nyinamponase – Education and WaSH Project for 600 Children
In the rural community of Nyinamponase in Ghana’s Bono Region, nearly everything essential for a proper school day was missing: Sufficient classrooms, toilets, and clean water — none of it could be found at the local primary school.
Children from Nyinamponase and neighboring villages were crowded into just three makeshift huts. An improvised structure with a leaky roof, no doors or windows, was built to provide extra space — but during the rainy season, lessons became impossible.
There were no sanitary facilities, and drinking water had to be fetched in the early morning hours. For girls especially, this often led to dropping out of school entirely.
The Project
Together with the Reiner Meutsch Foundation FLY & HELP, we are building a new, barrier-free school facility, including:
- 6 fully equipped classrooms
- a staff room and storage space
- modern school furniture
- hygienic toilets
- a mechanized water project with handwashing stations
- hygiene and maintenance training for all school staff
Why This Project Matters
By improving the learning environment, we not only create space for education, but also provide access to clean water, promote girls’ education, prevent disease, and make a vital contribution to breaking the cycle of poverty. Education is the key — and we want to place that key in the hands of the children in Nyinamponase.
Project Status
Construction began in March 2025. A 65-meter-deep well has already been successfully drilled and mechanized. The foundations have been laid, and the walls are rising.
Completion is expected by October 2025.
Status: in progress
Cost: approx. €75.840, funded by the Reiner Meutsch Foundation FLY & HELP
