Solar Projects – Energy That Changes Lives

Reliable energy is the foundation for development.
With our solar projects, we create exactly that: independence, security, and new opportunities for entire communities.

Project Background

In many regions of Ghana, the power supply is unstable or not available at all. Frequent and often prolonged power outages are part of daily life and affect critical areas such as children’s homes, schools, healthcare facilities, and water supply systems.

We are directly impacted by these widespread and long-lasting outages in many areas.

This is especially evident in our Children’s Shelter in Ho. When the power goes out, essential daily operations are immediately affected, from the care of the children, to the safe storage of food and medication, to learning and safety at night.

Similar challenges occur in mechanized water projects. While these systems have larger storage tanks, no water can be pumped during prolonged outages. Reserves are quickly depleted, leaving entire communities without reliable access to water, with serious consequences for health and daily life.

In some cases, generators can be used as a backup. However, fossil fuels are not a sustainable solution. In addition, we are currently heavily affected by global developments that directly impact availability and costs. This dependency is beyond our control, and we need to move away from it.

For us, it is clear:
Without reliable and sustainable energy, there can be no sustainable development.

Project Description

Our approach is to systematically equip our existing facilities and new projects with solar energy.

We take a holistic approach:
From powering buildings, to lighting public spaces, to enabling sustainable water supply systems.

This creates a system that operates independently, reduces long-term costs, and protects the environment.

1. Solar Systems for Buildings

We equip our facilities, such as the children’s home in Ho, with modern solar systems.

Benefits:

  • Independence from the power grid
  • Reliable energy supply around the clock
  • Secure operation of kitchens, lighting, and infrastructure
  • Improved learning and living conditions for children
  • Long-term reduction in operating costs
  • Environmentally friendly energy source
  • Investing in solar energy brings stability to daily life and real security for the children.

2. Solar Street Lights

Light means safety. In many rural areas, there is no street lighting at all.

With solar street lights, we create safe pathways and orientation.

Benefits:

  • Increased safety at night
  • Protection against accidents and crime
  • No electricity costs due to self-sufficient systems
  • Easy installation without existing infrastructure
  • Immediate improvement for entire communities

Solar lighting has an instant impact, especially for children and women.

3. Mechanized Solar Water Supply

Access to clean water is essential.
Many communities still rely on unsafe water sources.

By using solar-powered water systems, we connect two critical elements: water and energy.

Benefits:

  • Reliable access to clean drinking water
  • Independence from power outages
  • No physically demanding water collection
  • Improved health conditions
  • More time for school, work, and family
  • Sustainable and cost-efficient operation

These systems create long-term change for entire communities.

Implementation

Our projects are planned and implemented together with local partners:

  • Assessment of actual needs on the ground
  • Technical planning and selection of appropriate systems
  • Installation by experienced professionals
  • Training of local teams for operation and maintenance

This ensures that the projects are sustainable and can continue independently in the long term.

Impact

Solar projects are more than technology. They change everyday life.

  • Children can study in the evening
  • Facilities operate reliably
  • Communities become more independent
  • The environment is protected
  • The future becomes more predictable

With your support, we can expand these projects further.

Every solar system, every solar street light, and every water system brings us one step closer to a sustainable and independent future.

Support our solar projects and become part of this change.
