Toamfom Kindergarten
Renovation & Restoration
Project Overview
In recent years, important school buildings for the primary and junior high levels in Toamfom were newly constructed or renovated with the support of Fly & Help and the Kneip family. These interventions significantly improved learning conditions for older students.
However, the two-class kindergarten block remained in a severely deteriorated condition and posed a serious challenge in terms of safety and educational quality.
Initial Situation
The existing building was:
- structurally weakened and heavily aged
- fitted with a damaged and unsafe roof
- featuring uneven and heavily worn floors
- with deteriorating wall plaster
- lacking adequate protection from weather conditions
During heavy rainfall, children had to be sent home for safety reasons. In the dry season, extreme heat inside the classrooms made teaching very difficult.
These conditions significantly affected safety, learning capacity, and consistent kindergarten attendance.
Project Implementation
Completed Measures
- Removal of the old, unsafe roof
- Installation of a completely new roof structure
- Re-plastering of all interior and exterior walls
- Installation of new floor tiles in classrooms
- Electrical wiring and lighting installation
- Installation of new doors and windows
- Provision of new classroom blackboards
Financing & Cost Structure
- Total project cost: €8,630
- Funding contribution: €5,000
- Community contribution (materials): approx. €2,150
- Contribution by Madamfo Ghana Foundation: €1,480
Project Goals
- Create a safe and stable learning environment for kindergarten children

- Improve conditions for early childhood education
- Ensure regular and reliable classroom attendance
Impact & Outcome
With the successful renovation of the kindergarten building in Toamfom, a key foundation for early childhood education has been sustainably strengthened.
Children now benefit from a safe, stable, and supportive learning environment that gives them a stronger start to their educational journey.
This project clearly demonstrates how targeted investment in educational infrastructure can have direct and long-lasting impacts on children’s development, opportunities, and future prospects.
