Apewu WaSH

Apewu is located in the Bosome Freho District, in the Ashanti Region of Ghana and is a community of about 1,200 inhabitants, mostly farmers.

In 2004 Madamfo Ghana drilled a borehole and in 2006, a KVIP toilet facility followed.

In the middle of June 2020 a WaSH project could be started. The borehole will be rehabilitated and renovated and the almost 15-year-old KVIP toilet facility will be renovated and converted into a modern toilet facility with toilet.
At the same time, the teachers’ accommodation, also built by Madamfo Ghana, about 800 metres away, will be connected to the water supply.

Project goals:

  • Renovation of the KVIP building into a modern toilet facility with hand basin and WC
  • the connection of the teacher accommodation to the mechanized water supply
  • as well as improving the hygiene and health of the village community, by raising awareness and education, about the benefits of hand washing and environmental cleanliness.
