Renovation of the Maternity Clinic in Namasa
Enabling Safe Childbirth
Project Descritption
As part of the project, the maternity ward of the Namasa Clinic was comprehensively renovated and equipped with urgently needed medical equipment.
The following measures were implemented, among others:
- structural renovation of the maternity ward
- improvement of hygiene and working conditions
- provision of delivery beds, ward beds, and medical equipment
- supply of essential equipment for maternity and obstetric care
The implementation was carried out in close coordination with the clinic staff and the relevant health authorities.
Project Objectives
The objective of the project was to significantly improve the quality and safety of maternity care and to enable more women to give birth with medical supervision.
In addition, the project aimed to improve working conditions for medical staff and to strengthen the long-term use of the clinic.
Impact
The renovation of the maternity ward led to measurable and immediate improvements:
- significantly increased trust among women in the clinic
- strong increase in facility-based births
- improved hygienic conditions for mothers and newborns
- safer procedures during childbirth
- noticeable relief and higher motivation among medical staff
Today, the clinic is perceived as a safe and reliable place for childbirth.
Sustainability
The project has created a lasting foundation for improved healthcare services.
The renovated ward is in long-term use, the equipment requires low maintenance, and the clinic is closely integrated into the national health system.
The strong sense of ownership within the community further contributes to the project’s sustainable impact.
Status and Costs
The renovation of the maternity ward cost €11,000 and was fully funded by Wandern für die Andern e. V.
The funds enabled both the structural renovation of the ward and the provision of urgently needed medical equipment. Implementation was carried out in close cooperation with clinic staff and local partners.
