Nursery school in Brahoho
Brahoho is a village with 2,200 inhabitants in Nkoranza District which lies about 12 kilometres
south of the city of Nkoranza in the Brong Ahafo Region of Ghana. The main source of income for
the villagers is small scale agriculture.
Currently, 113 children at the age of 1–3 years attend nursery school – 50 boys and 63 girls.
Classes used to take place under hard conditions for children and teachers: outside, underneath
trees. In case of rain and stormy weather, classes had to be dismissed and everybody had to run
for cover. Occasionally, children or teacher were injured.
Also, there was no room to store the school supplies.
The nursery school was officially handed over to the municipality of Brahoho, the Ghana
Education Service, and to the teachers and pupils of Brahoho Methodist School.
Our heartfelt thanks go to the generous donation of the Fischer family and their friends.
